Spirit Voices: The Roots of Traditional Shamanism
Friday May 2, 2025 1:30pm - 3:00pm PDT
What is shamanism? Where is it from? How exactly does one become a shaman? Anthropologists tell us that the word ""shaman"" derives from the Tungus language and traditions, but few people understand the full scope of what that means.

In this class, we will explore the unfamiliar landscapes of North Asia, the place where shamanism was born, and uncover the indigenous spiritual/shamanic traditions and beliefs of the Turkic, Mongol, and Tungusic peoples of North Asia. This comprehensive class will also cover North Asian shamanic cosmology/mythology, shamanic tools, and practical concepts/methods that attendees can incorporate in their own practices.

This class will largely draw from topics/themes from David's book ""Spirit Voices: The Mysteries and Magic of North Asian Shamanism""."

Energetic Cord Cutting
Friday May 2, 2025 5:00pm - 6:30pm PDT
Have you ever felt emotionally drained after certain interactions or noticed lingering sadness or anxiety that won’t fade? Perhaps old habits or thoughts seem to block your growth and happiness. These are signs it’s time to cut energetic cords.

Energetic cords are invisible bonds that connect you to people, experiences, or emotions, often acting as channels for energy exchange. While some cords are positive, others can drain your energy and hinder well-being.

This workshop, rooted in the Mexican healing tradition of Curanderismo, teaches the art of cutting energetic cords. Through practices like limpias (spiritual cleansings) using eggs, herbs, and invocations, you’ll learn to break free from unwanted energetic ties and restore balance.

Explore techniques to sustain energetic health and step into a renewed sense of liberation and possibility, freeing yourself from the burdens of the past to embrace a vibrant future.

Celtic Hearth Beltaine Ritual
Friday May 2, 2025 7:00pm - 9:00pm PDT
Beltaine is a time of vibrant life, a celebration of the blossoming earth and the potent energies of union and growth. Traditionally, we honor this season with merriment and the symbolic joining of energies to fertilize the land, often represented by the Maypole.

This year, as we gather, we acknowledge that our communities are navigating a time of significant transition and change. In the spirit of Beltane, we recognize the power of collective action and the resilience of the human spirit. The Goddesses of the Celtic Lands—Arduinna - The Warrior, Branwen - The Guide, and Gwenhwyfar - The Queen—offer their guidance and strength as we seek to create a fertile ground for healing and growth within our communities.

This Beltaine ritual will be a journey of connection and empowerment. We will work together to weave a tapestry of support, becoming walking staffs for one another, and drawing upon the Goddesses' wisdom to discover how we can best nurture our communities. Through meditation and shared intention, we will explore practical ways to bring positive change and foster a sense of unity.

As a tangible expression of our shared intention, we will create May Baskets, imbued with the magic of Beltane. These baskets will be gifts of hope and encouragement, to be shared with those in our lives who may need a gentle reminder of the beauty and strength that surrounds them. We invite you to join us in spreading this spirit of renewal and support, placing your May Baskets as offerings of kindness within your community.

If you have never attended an ADF Druid rite (or any druid rite) before, please arrive 20 minutes early as we will be discussing the basics of ADF Druidry and what to expect during the ritual.

Under the Wings of Isis: The Greater Mysteries of Making Offering
Saturday May 3, 2025 3:30pm - 5:30pm PDT
Discover potent ancient Egyptian techniques for deep connection with the Divine. The eternal act of making offering weaves connection between human and Divine, Divine and human. It is one of the most important ways we communicate with our Deities.

Hallowed by tradition and empowered by magic, offering was vital to ancient Egyptian worship. And it is just as important today.

As an active form of ritual prayer, offering enables us to participate directly in the creative energy of the universe—and in the sacred, living magic of the Great Egyptian Goddess Isis.

We’ll discuss the theory and practice of Egyptian offering rites, then we’ll participate together in a ritual that “Opens the Ways” to Isis as we make offering to Her—and receive blessings of power and protection from Her in return.

Kispum Ritual Pagan Ritual for the Dying, Grief, and Bereavment
Saturday May 3, 2025 5:30pm - 7:00pm PDT
Kispum is a ritual of relationships with the dead that began in Sumerian/Akkadian (2500 BCE) culture and continues today.

The workshop is part exploration of practices and one part ritual for the Pagan and occult communities to maintain connections with departed loved ones and honor ancestors. I incorporate Continuing Bonds Theory as a modern (1970s) alternative to the Western Detachment Theory of “letting go” of the dead. This perspective embraces the idea of ongoing relationships beyond death, focusing on rituals, commemorations, and sacred practices that sustain these connections.

My modern take emphasizes the significance of these enduring ties, providing insight into how such traditions and rituals within Pagan spirituality foster a sense of continuity and reverence for the deceased within the living world. It is a living practice with prayers that have ancient roots but are designed for modern practitioners. It is ongoing work.

Temple of Inanna
Saturday May 3, 2025 7:00pm - 8:30pm PDT
Temple of Inanna and Dumuzi will present a devotional to Inanna and Dumuzi, two of the oldest Deities of civilization, love, war, agriculture, herding, and sexuality. In ancient Sumer, non-binary gendered people were among the clergy who served Them.

In accordance with an ancient Sumerian hymn, we will distribute colored scarves to all, with first choice going to those who identify as trans or non-binary gender (queer, third gender, flexible, etc.) and we will all process through the hotel, praising the Goddess and God and asking for Their blessings on our civilization.

Please array yourself beautifully by your personal standards. Glamor, glitz, bling, high drag are especially appropriate, as is attire that expresses your ownership of your own Power: Inanna is not a modest or moderate Goddess. Be wondrous!

Saturday May 3, 2025 8:30pm - 9:30pm PDT
SoRIAH is the stage persona of Enrique Ugalde, an internationally-acclaimed throat singer and ritual artist who generates experimental soundscapes where ancient traditions are revealed through the lens of modern experience.
The concert and ritual is Saturday night.
Birthed in one of the most historically isolated locations on the planet, Tuvan throat singing is a musical sound like no other. Mysterious, primordial, and awash in a deeply visceral drone, it invokes the full range of the natural world – from deep mountain roots to the whistle of birds in flight.
SoRIAH weaves Tuvan throat singing, pre-Columbian Mexica sounds, classical Indian raga, and modern Western styles, looping and processing his voice and traditional instruments into lush sonic tapestries. His lyrics are often written in the language of Nahuatl (Mexica/Aztec) or Tuvan, preserving and expressing cultural
mysteries with reverence and wonder.

Reviving a Ritual from the Greek Magical Papyri in the 21st Century CE
Sunday May 4, 2025 12:00pm - 1:30pm PDT
Hans Dieter Betz, editor of the Greek Magical Papyri in Translation (PGM), proposes that “In its Hellenistic transformation, the Egyptian religion of the pre-Hellenistic era appears to have been reduced and simplified, no doubt to facilitate its assimilation into Hellenistic religion as the predominant cultural reference". I argue that in the contemporary Pagan paradigm, revival and reconstruction continues this process. In 1999, I was an experienced Wiccan ritualist and magic worker, but the Greek Magical Papyri in Translation opened my eyes to a faraway time, culture, and magical worldview. I was eager to try a PGM ritual for myself, and with the overconfidence of youth, I performed the copper cup divination rite from PDM XIV: 395-427 in public. Focusing on this case study, I will demonstrate that the rite was "reduced and simplified" in an attempt to "facilitate its assimilation" into the Neopagan framework of the early 21st century CE.
